In season 1 episode 6 of Last American Cowboy titled "Pull Your Weight," viewers are taken back to the heart of cowboy country in Colorado. The episode follows the daily lives of three families as they work to maintain their ranches, tend to their herds of cattle, and prepare for the upcoming winter.

The first family featured is the Wrights, a family of four who own a 2,000-acre ranch. The father, John, has been a cowboy for over 60 years and has passed down his knowledge to his son, David. Together, they work to train two new horses for the upcoming rodeo season. The training process includes teaching the horses how to buck, which involves teaching the horses how to break out of a chute and buck for a full eight seconds. The Wrights' training tactics include using a bucking machine to simulate the rodeo experience. Despite their experience, David and John realize that they still have some things to learn in order to get their horses in top shape for the rodeo.

Next up is the Conrado family, who own a 40,000-acre ranch. They are working to prepare their cattle for the winter by weaning the calves and separating them from their mothers. The Conrados are a tight-knit family, consisting of parents Roy and Ramona, and their children, Roy Jr. and Tanya. They work together to brand and vaccinate each calf, a task that requires a great deal of skill and teamwork. They know that their success depends on each member of the family pulling their weight and doing their part.

The final family highlighted in this episode is the Bishop family, who own a 3,000-acre ranch. They are working to round up their cattle and drive them to another pasture before the winter sets in. The Bishop family is made up of father Glen and his three sons, Jared, Lane, and Cody. They use a helicopter to help gather the cattle, which can prove to be dangerous work. Cody, the youngest of the siblings, is eager to prove himself and contribute to the family's success. His father and brothers are happy to teach him, but they also know that his safety is their top priority.

Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse into the lifestyle of a working cowboy and the challenges they face in order to maintain their way of life. They also gain an appreciation for the importance of family and teamwork in this line of work. At the end of the day, each family knows that their success depends on their ability to pull their weight and work together.
