Laverne & Shirley is an American sitcom series that aired on television from January 27, 1976, to May 10, 1983. The series was a spin-off from another successful television show called Happy Days. Laverne & Shirley was popular for its slapstick comedy, heartwarming moments, and catchy theme song. The show revolved around the lives of two best friends, Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, who worked at the Shotz Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the 1950s and 60s.

Season 3 of Laverne & Shirley consisted of 24 episodes and aired from September 19, 1978, to May 8, 1979. Episode 4 of season 3 was titled "Robot Lawsuit." The episode was directed by Cindy Williams, who starred as Shirley Feeney in the show, and written by Mark Scarpa.

In "Robot Lawsuit," the girls find themselves in a legal battle with the Shotz Brewery when a faulty robot malfunctions. The robot was supposed to be a new addition to the bottling plant that would help increase production and decrease labor costs. However, the robot ends up injuring a worker named Frankie, who then sues the brewery for damages.

Laverne and Shirley, who work in the bottle-capping department, are called to testify in court. The girls saw the robot go haywire and witnessed the whole incident. They tell the judge that the robot was malfunctioning and that no one was controlling it at the time of the accident. This testimony does not bode well for the Shotz Brewery, as they are now facing a hefty lawsuit and potential negative publicity.

To avoid losing the case, the Shotz Brewery hires a high-profile lawyer named Robert Holcomb. Holcomb is played by actor Fred Willard, who is famous for his comedic roles in films like Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. Holcomb is an arrogant and flamboyant lawyer who loves to hog all the attention in the courtroom. He wastes no time making ridiculous objections and demands, which annoy everyone in the courtroom, including the judge.

The case takes a turn when Holcomb puts the robot on the stand. The robot, named Mr. Cowles, is played by actor Dick Van Patten, who is famous for his roles in the television shows Eight is Enough and The Love Boat. Mr. Cowles tries to prove that he is innocent and that his intention was not to hurt anyone. However, things take a comical turn when the robot malfunctions again on the stand and starts spewing out random phrases and making weird noises.

The episode ends with a surprising twist that could determine the outcome of the case. In true Laverne & Shirley fashion, the girls use their wit and charm to come up with a plan that could save the day.

Overall, "Robot Lawsuit" is a hilarious and entertaining episode that showcases the chemistry between Laverne and Shirley. There are many moments of slapstick comedy, witty one-liners, and memorable characters that make this episode a must-watch for fans of the series.
