Ep 9. Teacher Comes to Dinner

In Leave It to Beaver season 3 episode 9 titled "Teacher Comes to Dinner," the Cleaver household is thrown into a frenzy when Beaver's teacher, Miss Landers, comes over for dinner. Ward and June are determined to impress Miss Landers and show her what a great family they have. Beaver, on the other hand, is worried that his little brother, Wally, will embarrass him in front of Miss Landers.

As the family prepares for dinner, they are all on their best behavior. June pulls out all the stops to make a delicious meal, while Ward tries to engage Miss Landers in serious conversation. Wally, for his part, is making a valiant effort to be on his best behavior, but his mischievous nature keeps getting the better of him.

Throughout the meal, the conversation is polite but stilted. Miss Landers seems uncomfortable, and the Cleavers are all on edge. Finally, when dinner is over, Miss Landers announces that she has to leave. The Cleavers are disappointed but not surprised - they feel like they've failed to make a good impression.

The next day, Beaver goes to school and is surprised when Miss Landers pulls him aside after class. She tells him that she had a wonderful time at his house and that she was impressed by his family. Beaver is shocked to hear this - he had assumed that the evening had been a disaster.

Miss Landers explains that she was nervous because she had a crush on Ward when they were in high school, and seeing him again brought back a lot of old feelings. This revelation is enough to make Beaver realize that adults have their own insecurities and worries, just like kids do.

The episode ends with a sense of warmth and understanding between Beaver and Miss Landers. While the Cleavers may not have had the perfect dinner party, they still managed to make an impression on their son's teacher - and in doing so, they learned a valuable lesson about the importance of being themselves, no matter who's watching.
