He was born in San Clemente, California. At 18 months he found his dad's old skateboard and shortly after took his first ride on it. He started skating in 1993 and at the age of 13 he entered 5 competitions including US Open of Skateboarding, State Champion and Gravity Games. After that his sponsors toured him all over the world. In 2003 he turned pro after winning 5th at Globe World Cup in Australia. He is also the youngest pro skater to ever win gold in the X Games. In 2005 he repeatedly took first in the Dew Action Sports Tour.

In 2007 when he turned 18, he moved out of his parents' home and went out on his own living the celebrity life. MTV has now featured a reality show about Ryan and his every day personal and professional life. Follow Ryan through his daily teen struggles with relationships, curfew, parents and social acceptance. Watch as he tries to deal with his parents' divorce, attempts to give what little free time he has to his brothers, and searches for a cool girlfriend to go along with his skater lifestyle.

Learn from his amazing mentors as they try to keep him out of trouble and away from the drugs and alcohol that seem to go along with the celebrity life.
