Ep 5. A Wiser Heart

Laura and Almanzo's marriage is feeling the strains of financial hardship as they struggle to cope with agricultural failure and the increasing costs of raising their two young children. Unable to provide for her family, Laura takes a job at the local restaurant, but her resentment and frustration grows as she watches her husband struggle to keep his pride in the face of his inability to make ends meet. Meanwhile, an old flame of Almanzo's from their days in Walnut Grove returns, but can Laura overcome her jealousy and trust the man she loves? As tensions rise and tempers flare, Laura realizes that there is more to a successful marriage than just love and romance, and she must learn to trust Almanzo with their future if they are to overcome these trying times together.
