Madeline and the Old Violin is the sixteenth episode of the first season of the animated show, Madeline. This captivating show tells the story of a young girl named Madeline who lives in a boarding school in Paris. In this episode, Madeline discovers an old violin lying in the attic and decides to bring it to life.

As the story begins, Madeline and her friends are playing in the attic when she stumbles upon an old violin gathering dust. She tries to play it, but it's out of tune. She realizes that the violin is broken and decides to find someone to fix it. She takes it to the local violin maker, Monsieur Abramovitz who informs Madeline that he can fix the violin but it will take time.

Soon after, Madeline experiences a curious dream where the old violin becomes a character in its own right, and she is transported to a world filled with music and adventure. Madeline and the old violin go on a journey around Paris, where they visit various landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. It is during this dream that Madeline realizes the importance of music, and how it can bring people together.

When Madeline wakes up from her dream, she is thrilled to see that Monsieur Abramovitz has fixed the old violin. She takes it back to her boarding school and tries to play it, but it's still out of tune. The headmistress, Miss Clavel, suggests that they take the violin to the best violinist in Paris, Monsieur Jacques Gerard (who is a friend of hers).

Madeline and Miss Clavel take the violin to Monsieur Gerard's house and he invites them in. Monsieur Gerard tries to play the violin but finds that it is still out of tune. He examines the violin and realizes that the strings are made of silk, which is a rare and expensive material. He is impressed that Madeline has found such a valuable violin but also tells her that it is not a toy and requires great care.

Madeline becomes excited and decides that she wants to learn to play the violin properly. Monsieur Gerard is happy to teach her, and she begins to practice on the old violin. She becomes quite good at playing, and her friends in the boarding school listen to her with admiration.

In the end, Madeline learns that the old violin belonged to a famous violinist, Jean-Pierre Beauregard, who had lost it many years ago. Monsieur Gerard arranges for Madeline to meet Beauregard, and she returns the violin to its rightful owner. Beauregard is overjoyed to have his beloved violin back and tells Madeline that she can keep it and learn to play properly.

This episode is incredibly heartwarming and teaches the importance of valuing the things that we find, as well as the significance of music. Madeline's love for the violin inspires her to learn how to play, and she is rewarded for her hard work and dedication. This episode is a beautiful example of Madeline's kind and curious nature, and how she always seeks to do the right thing.
