The television series entitled Mary Stayed Out Late is centered on the life and challenges of Wi Mae. Wi Mae is the daughter of Dae-Han onetime successful business man who failed in his business because he was a cheat and had so many unpaid debts. She is well known for her joyful character and realistic approach in life. One day while driving Wi Mae almost knocks down a young man known as Kang with her car and the two later become friends. Kang is a singer and performer and is very nice to the people around him. Wi Mae's father however is relieved from his debts when his friend Jung returns home and decides to help him pay off all his debts. Jung is a successful business man in the entertainment industry and he had been based in Japan for quite a long time doing his business and actually prospering in it. Jung however had always been in love with Dae-Han's wife though he never approached her nor told anyone about it. He then tells his friend to allow his son Jung marry Wi Mae. When Wi Mae finds out about her arranged marriage to Jung, she is not happy about it and decides to plan her escape. She then begs Moo to pretend to be in love with her and approach her father to ask for her hand in marriage. Wi Dae's father then tells her to take her time and within one hundred days decide who she truly loves and wants to marry. This is quite challenging for her but she accepts to do as her father says. The film ends in suspense as her father awaits the daughter's decision. The series was written by Won Yeon and directed by Hong Goo. The main characters include Moon Young starring as Wi Mae, Park Myun starring as Mae's father.
