In Masterchef Canada season 3 episode 3, titled "At Home and Abroad," the remaining 12 contestants are faced with a new challenge that will test their culinary skills on both a local and international level.

For the first part of the challenge, the contestants must prepare a dish that represents their home province. This proves to be a difficult task for some, as they struggle to find inspiration and showcase their identity through their cooking. Guest judge Carl Heinrich, the winner of Top Chef Canada season 2 and owner of Toronto restaurant Richmond Station, joins the judges to critique the plates and determine the best and worst of the bunch.

Next, the contestants are taken on a culinary journey around the world as they are tasked with creating a dish inspired by the cuisine of a randomly chosen country. With only 45 minutes to research and prepare their dish, the contestants must work quickly to showcase their knowledge and creativity in the kitchen. The judges are joined by guest judge Chef Sang Kim of Ki Modern Japanese + Bar, who adds his expertise in Asian cuisine to the panel.

As always, the pressure is high and the stakes are even higher as the contestants must impress the judges and avoid elimination. With such a diverse range of dishes and flavors, it's anyone's game to win or lose.
