Set in the Pacific during World War II, McHale's Navy follows the misadventures of the crew of PT-73, a small US Navy patrol boat, under the command of the irrepressible Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale (Ernest Borgnine).

In Season 1 Episode 3, entitled "McHale and His Seven Cupids," McHale and his crew find a creative way to boost morale and raise funds for the war effort. With Valentine's Day approaching, McHale and his crew decide to set up a matchmaking service for lonely sailors stationed on their island.

McHale appoints himself and six of his crew members as cupids, each responsible for finding a match for a designated sailor. The seventh cupid is McHale himself, who takes on the most challenging case - finding a match for a grumpy and unfriendly sailor named Lester Gruber (Carl Ballantine).

Despite initial reluctance from some of the sailors, the matchmaking service proves to be a hit, with the crew successfully pairing up several couples. However, McHale's task of finding a match for Gruber proves to be more difficult than expected, and the captain of a visiting supply ship threatens to put an end to the operation altogether.

As always, McHale and his crew must use their quick thinking and ingenuity to save the day and ensure that love triumphs in the end.

Filled with humor, hijinks, and heart, "McHale and His Seven Cupids" is a charming and entertaining episode that showcases the camaraderie and resourcefulness of the PT-73 crew.
