Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Season 1 Episode 17 Deadly Struggle in the Indian Ocean
- February 5, 2005
At the beginning of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny season 1 episode 17, titled "Deadly Struggle in the Indian Ocean," the Minerva is swiftly pursuing the stolen Diamond Boron missile when they suddenly become under attack by a number of Orb's mobile suits. Athrun attempts to reason with his old comrades to no avail, leading him to reluctantly engage in battle against them. Meanwhile, Shinn's rage and obsession with killing Kira continue to grow stronger, to the point where he disregards orders and charges off to face the Freedom Gundam alone.
As the battle continues, the Minerva struggles to fend off the Orb mobile suits and the Archangel's reinforcements. The situation grows even more dire when the Diamond Boron missile detonates right next to them, leaving the ship heavily damaged and most of its crew injured. Just as things seem to be taking a turn for the worse, the Minerva receives an unexpected ally - the Desert Dawn, a group of ZAFT deserters led by the enigmatic and charismatic Lord Djibril.
While the Desert Dawn manage to take on and defeat Orb's mobile suits, they have their own ulterior motives for joining the battle. Their true intentions remain shrouded in mystery, but it's clear that they have no love for either ZAFT or the Earth Alliance and are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. Meanwhile, the situation aboard the Minerva grows even more complicated as tensions rise between the ship's crew and its new allies.
As the battle reaches its climax, Shinn finally comes face to face with Kira and the Freedom Gundam. The two engage in a fierce and emotionally charged battle, each determined to come out on top. However, just as it seems like Shinn has the upper hand, he suddenly experiences a powerful vision that shakes him to his core. It's unclear what exactly he has seen or experienced, but it's clear that it has left a deep impact on him.
Despite the Minerva's best efforts, the Archangel is able to make off with the remaining pieces of the stolen missile, leaving the ZAFT forces empty-handed. As the battle draws to a close and the dust settles, it's clear that the ramifications of this conflict will be felt far and wide. Shinn's emotional turmoil and the Desert Dawn's ulterior motives both hint at the larger political and ideological struggles that are brewing behind the scenes, setting the stage for even more explosive conflicts down the line.
