Ep 9. The Organ Shredder

When it comes to parasites and diseases, sometimes the most alarming symptoms can be the ones that aren't showing up on the outside. In Season 8, Episode 9 of "Monsters Inside Me," titled "The Organ Shredder," viewers watch as three different patients start experiencing strange internal ailments that all turn out to be caused by unexpected organisms.

In the first segment, a woman named Jennie suddenly starts feeling excruciating pain in her abdomen after giving birth to her second child. Despite doctors not being sure what could be causing the pain, they eventually find a shockingly large pineapple-sized tumor that is slowly shredding Jennie's organs. When they finally remove it, they discover that it was caused by a rare parasitic worm that had been silently feasting on Jennie's flesh from the inside out.

The second segment takes viewers to a farm in Indiana, where a young girl named Sarah is feeling increasingly ill and lethargic. At first, doctors assume that Sarah has the flu or some other common illness, but when her symptoms continue to worsen, they start to suspect that something more nefarious could be going on. After several rounds of tests, they discover that Sarah has been infected with a rare type of amoeba that is slowly consuming her brain.

The final segment is perhaps the most shocking of all, as it centers around a man named John who starts experiencing an inexplicable pain in his leg. Over time, the pain becomes so unbearable that he can barely walk, and several doctors struggle to figure out what could be causing it. Eventually, a biopsy reveals that John has been infected with a type of parasitic worm that is slowly eating away at his tissue and bones.

Throughout "The Organ Shredder," viewers are left on the edge of their seats as they watch three different people struggle to come to terms with the fact that they are being consumed from the inside out. However, despite the gruesome subject matter, the show manages to remain informative and educational throughout, with doctors and experts providing helpful insight and advice on how to avoid these terrifying organisms. By the end of the episode, viewers are left with a newfound respect for the complexity of the human body, and a newfound awareness of just how vulnerable we can be to the tiny creatures that lurk within us.
