Ep 5. Hard Luck

In this episode of Mountain Men season 6, titled Hard Luck, we follow several of the show's regular cast members as they attempt to survive and thrive in the unpredictable wilderness of the American West. One of the main storylines revolves around Morgan Beasley, a seasoned mountain man who has spent years living off the land in Alaska's remote Yukon region. Morgan is facing some tough challenges this season, as he tries to build a new cabin and expand his trapping operations in the harsh winter wilderness.

Meanwhile, we also check in with Tom Oar, a grizzled veteran of the trapping trade who has been living in the Montana wilderness for decades. Tom is facing his own set of challenges this season, as he struggles to catch enough fur to make ends meet in the face of a changing market and increasing competition from younger trappers. Despite his years of experience, Tom finds himself pushed to his limits as he fights to survive in an increasingly difficult and unforgiving environment.

Elsewhere in the episode, we meet Eustace Conway, a mountain man who has become something of a folk hero in his home state of North Carolina. Eustace is known for his extreme self-sufficiency and his commitment to living off the land without the aid of modern technology or conveniences. In this episode, we follow Eustace as he embarks on a dangerous trek through the treacherous terrain of the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains, all in search of the elusive ginseng root that he relies on to make a living.

Finally, we also get to know Marty Meierotto, a trapper and homesteader who lives in Alaska's vast wilderness with his wife and family. Marty faces some major obstacles this season, as he comes up against a series of setbacks and challenges in his attempt to build a self-sustaining lifestyle in one of the harshest environments on earth. We watch as Marty harnesses his years of experience and ingenuity to overcome each obstacle in turn, refusing to give up no matter how tough things get.

Throughout the episode, we see each of these mountain men grapple with the harsh realities of life in the wilderness, from battling the elements to facing unexpected setbacks and challenges. Despite the hardships they face, however, these men are determined to survive and even thrive in a world that is often unforgiving and unpredictable. With stunning footage of some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes in the American West, as well as intimate glimpses into the daily lives of these intrepid mountaineers, Mountain Men season 6 episode 5 is an unforgettable journey into the heart of the wilderness.
