Rainbow Dash has always been a huge fan of Daring Do, an adventurer and hero from a series of novels she reads. However, when Rainbow Dash discovers that the latest book in the series will not be released until her birthday, she becomes impatient and decides to track down the author. Rainbow Dash is shocked to discover that the author is actually a pony named A.K. Yearling, who writes the books based on her own experiences. A.K. Yearling tells Rainbow Dash that she is currently on a dangerous mission to retrieve an ancient artifact and offers to let Rainbow Dash tag along.
Excited at the prospect of being able to meet her hero and witness a real adventure, Rainbow Dash accepts the offer. However, once they set off on their journey, Rainbow Dash realizes that A.K. Yearling's latest adventure is much more dangerous than she anticipated. As they encounter obstacles and enemies, Rainbow Dash begins to question whether this was a good idea after all.
Meanwhile, Twilight Sparkle and the rest of the Mane Six become suspicious of Rainbow Dash's sudden disappearance and decide to investigate. They discover that Rainbow Dash is on a mission with A.K. Yearling and decide to follow her to keep an eye on her and ensure her safety.
As Rainbow Dash and A.K. Yearling continue their quest, they encounter a group of ponies who also want the ancient artifact for themselves. Rainbow Dash and A.K. Yearling must race against these ponies to reach the artifact first.
With the help of her friends and her hero, Rainbow Dash must use all of her courage and skill to protect the ancient artifact and save Equestria from those who would use it for evil. Along the way, Rainbow Dash learns important lessons about heroism, bravery, and trust.
In the end, Rainbow Dash returns home a changed pony, with a newfound appreciation for the dangers and sacrifices that come with being a hero. The experience has also brought her closer to A.K. Yearling, who is revealed to be someone even more special than Rainbow Dash ever could have imagined.
