My Strange Addiction is a documentary series that follows individuals with unusual addictions. In season 1 episode 12, titled "Laxatives / Pottery & Ashes," we see two individuals with very different dependencies.

First, we meet 28-year-old Keyara, who suffers from constipation and relies heavily on laxatives to help her go to the bathroom. She has been taking laxatives for over a decade and consumes up to 90 pills a day, which is significantly more than the recommended dosage. Keyara collects laxative pills from different stores and brands, and even refers to the boxes as her "friends." She believes that without them, her body would be unable to function properly.

The addiction has caused numerous health problems for Keyara, including severe stomach pain and intestinal blockages. She is also dependent on using enemas to help relieve her constipation, which can be dangerous as they can cause irritation, infection, and even ruptures in the rectum.

Keyara's family and friends are worried about her and try to encourage her to seek help. She finally agrees to see a therapist, who helps her understand the root of her addiction. Through therapy, she is able to confront her fear of not being able to use the bathroom and gradually wean herself off the laxatives.

Next, we meet 54-year-old Antoinette, who has an addiction to pottery and ashes. Antoinette creates pottery pieces and shapes them into urns, which she uses to hold the ashes of people and pets who have passed away. She believes that every piece of pottery she creates has a soul and a unique story, and that by holding the ashes of loved ones, she is keeping their spirits alive.

Antoinette's addiction has taken over her life. Her home is cluttered with pottery and urns, and she spends most of her time working on her creations. She also attends funerals of people she does not know in hopes of obtaining their ashes to add to her collection.

Her family is concerned about her mental well-being and the safety of keeping so many ashes in the house. They help her see a therapist, who encourages her to find other ways to honor the memory of loved ones, such as starting a memorial garden. Antoinette is resistant to change at first, but eventually comes to the realization that her addiction is not healthy and learns to let go of some of her creations.

Overall, "Laxatives / Pottery & Ashes" is a thought-provoking look at unusual addictions and how they can affect a person's life. It shows that despite the differences in the two addictions, they both stem from underlying emotional issues and can be overcome with the right kind of support.
