Once inside the lab, Kakashi and his team are horrified by what they find - rows of test tubes containing the bodies of villagers who have been used as guinea pigs for Orochimaru's experiments. They also discover that Orochimaru has created a massive serpent, which he plans to use to destroy the Hidden Leaf Village.

Kakashi and his team engage in a fierce battle with Orochimaru and his followers, but they are outnumbered and outmatched. Just when all seems lost, the Fourth Hokage arrives to assist them. Together, Kakashi and the Fourth Hokage are able to defeat Orochimaru and destroy the giant serpent.

In the aftermath of the battle, Danzo reveals the truth about the Fourth Hokage's death - he sacrificed himself to save the Hidden Leaf Village from an attack by the Nine-Tailed Fox, a powerful beast that had been unleashed by a rogue ninja. Kakashi is overcome with grief and guilt, as he realizes that he could have done nothing to prevent his mentor's death.

The episode ends with Kakashi resigning from the ANBU Black Ops and returning to his regular duties as a ninja. However, he is forever changed by the experience and the knowledge that there are dark forces at work within the Hidden Leaf Village.
