Meanwhile, Maddie continues to be upset with Rayna and Deacon for keeping the truth about Deacon being her biological father from her. While they try and mend their relationship, new trouble begins to arise when Maddie's biological father, Teddy, starts getting involved in her life again. As Rayna tries to mend her relationship with Maddie, she also has to focus on her record label, Highway 65, which is struggling to keep up.

At the same time, Scarlett is still trying to heal from her breakup with Gunnar and channels her emotions into her music. However, Gunnar is scared to take their relationship to the next level and this causes tension between them. As the two struggle to navigate their emotions, Scarlett meets another artist, Damien, and finds herself drawn to him.
