In North Woods Law season 14 episode 2 titled "Out of Options," viewers are taken on a journey through the wilderness of Maine to witness the work of the state's dedicated game wardens. The episode follows the wardens as they respond to a variety of calls, each one more urgent than the last.
The episode opens with a look at the work of Warden Curtis and his team as they deal with a group of anglers who have been fishing in a restricted area. The group is uncooperative at first, but eventually they are persuaded to leave the area and allowed to keep the fish they have already caught. This is just the beginning of the wardens' work for the day, however, as they soon receive a call about a bear who has been spotted in a residential neighborhood. The wardens quickly spring into action, hoping to locate the bear before it can cause any harm to people or property.
Meanwhile, another warden, Jonathan, receives a call from a woman who has lost her dog in the woods. The woman is visibly distraught and worried about the safety of her pet, and Jonathan knows that time is of the essence. He quickly recruits a team of wardens and volunteers to help search for the missing dog, scouring the woods for hours until they eventually locate the pup, safe and sound.
As the day wears on, the calls for assistance continue to come in. Warden Bronson and his team are called to a campground where a group of campers have been causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, they discover that the group is actually filming a movie, and the various screams and explosions are all part of the show. The wardens give them a warning and proceed on to the next call.
This call takes them to a remote cabin where a man is in trouble. The man, who is severely drunk, has accidentally shot himself in the foot and is bleeding heavily. The wardens quickly administer first aid and transport him to a nearby hospital, saving his life.
Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of Maine's game wardens, as they work tirelessly to protect both the state's wildlife and its people. From busting illegal anglers to searching for lost pets, these dedicated individuals are always ready to answer the call of duty. As the sun sets on another day in the North Woods, the wardens head back to their homes, ready to do it all again tomorrow.
