In the latest episode of North Woods Law season 14, titled "Case Closed," we see the officers of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife closing out some of their most challenging cases.
The episode starts with Warden Kris MacCabe investigating a suspicious boat floating in the middle of a lake. After a brief investigation, it is quickly determined that the boat has been abandoned and is posing a hazard to other boaters. Kris is called in to remove the boat from the water, and he enlists the help of a local salvage company to get the job done.
Meanwhile, Warden Cody Lounder returns to the site of a recent hunting violation. He is joined by a team of K9 officers and wardens who are all eager to catch the perpetrator. After following some tracks and finding spent shell casings, they know they are getting close. But catching a poacher is never easy, and the team must rely on their training and expertise to apprehend the suspect.
Next, we see Warden Alan Curtis investigating a noise complaint from a nearby campground. Upon arriving, he discovers a group of campers who have been drinking and making excessive noise. Despite their protests, Alan reminds them of the park's rules and regulations, and they ultimately comply and quiet down.
Back in the field, Warden Roger Guay visits a local farmer who has reported finding a dead deer on his property. Upon closer inspection, Roger discovers that the deer has been illegally poached, and he quickly gets to work on investigating the scene. After questioning some local residents, he soon identifies a possible suspect and takes action to bring him to justice.
Finally, Warden Lounder and his team return to a case involving illegal trapping. After finding several snares in the area, they set up a hidden camera to catch the trapper in the act. It doesn't take long for the suspect to take the bait, and video evidence confirms what they suspected all along. With the evidence in hand, Warden Lounder and his team move in to make an arrest and finally close the case.
Throughout the episode, we see the wardens of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife working tirelessly to protect the state's natural resources and enforce its laws and regulations. From investigating poaching and hunting violations to dealing with noisy campers, they are dedicated to keeping both wildlife and people safe. And with each case they close, they bring a sense of justice to those impacted by these crimes.
