In North Woods Law season 2 episode 5 titled "Something's Afowl," the conservation officers of New Hampshire are faced with a multitude of wildlife emergencies.
The episode begins with Officer Glen Lucas responding to a call about a stray peacock causing traffic on the highway. After a comical chase through residential neighborhoods, Lucas finally captures the peacock and returns it to its owner.
Meanwhile, Officer Eric Hannett investigates a report of a bear attack on a livestock farm. Hannett finds evidence of a bear but realizes that the damage to the animals was most likely caused by a pack of coyotes. He sets up traps to catch the coyotes and prevent them from attacking any more livestock.
Officer Lucas receives another call, this time about an injured goose found swimming in a lake. Lucas immediately heads to the scene, rescuing the goose from the lake and bringing it back to shore for medical treatment.
Later in the episode, Officer Hannett and his K-9 partner work together to track down an illegal ATV rider who has been causing damage to the local forests. After a grueling pursuit, Hannett is able to apprehend the rider and issue him a significant fine.
Finally, Officer James Benvenuti responds to a call about a juvenile bald eagle who has been found injured on the side of the road. Benvenuti brings the bird to a rehabilitation center, where it will receive medical attention and hopefully recover enough to live in the wild once again.
Throughout the episode, the conservation officers show their dedication to protecting wildlife and educating the public about the importance of conservation efforts. "Something's Afowl" showcases the challenges and rewards of protecting the natural world in a constantly changing environment.
