Ep 12. Fool's Gold

In the twelfth episode of the eighth season of Pawn Stars titled "Fool's Gold," the team at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop is back with more interesting items to evaluate and examine. Whether it's an antique piece, rare collectible, or an everyday trinket, the team's experts are up for the challenge.

In this episode, viewers are taken on a journey that started with a customer coming in with a vintage metal detector found at an abandoned gold mine. The customer was hopeful that he had found a wealth of gold coins buried in the mine, but all he had to show for it was a medal detector that he now wanted to pawn. The customer is hoping to cash in on his family heirloom but is in for a surprise when Chumlee steps in to negotiate the deal.

In another segment of the show, Rick and Corey receive a visit from a customer who is hoping to sell a genuine Barranquilla carnival mask. This mask has been passed down in his family for generations, and he is now looking to sell it to raise some funds. Rick and Corey are intrigued by the mask but have to determine its authenticity before they offer a price. After some investigation and consultation with experts, they form an opinion on the mask's value and begin negotiations with the customer.

Later in the episode, Rick examines a WWII fighter pilot's helmet that's possibly part of a bigger collection acquired by an avid history buff. Rick takes a look at the helmet, and after some historical context and further examination, he finds out that the helmet might have belonged to one of the Air Force's great pilots. The collector wants to sell the entire set for an exorbinant price and Rick is interested in purchasing it, if he can get it for the right price.

Finally comes a customer carrying a custom-made pinball machine made from scratch. As always, the guys at the shop are excited by the opportunity to examine something new and unique. They take a closer look at the machine and determine its value, and negotiations begin. The customer is optimistic about the value of his prized creation and hopes to get the shop to pay top dollar.
