Ep 26. So Long, Sophocles!

  •   (81)

Ash and his friends have made their way to Hokulani Observatory, which is situated on top of a mountain on Ula'ula Island. They're there to witness the launch of a rocket being sent to space, but before the rocket takes off, the group decides to take a tour of the observatory. They're shown around by Sophocles, who is an expert on all things mechanical. The group is impressed by the high-tech equipment at the observatory, and they get a chance to see the inside of the rocket before it takes off.

As they're getting ready to leave, Sophocles' parents arrive at the observatory. They're there to take their son back home because they believe that his love for machinery is a bad influence on him. Sophocles is devastated, and he doesn't want to leave his newfound friends behind. Ash and the gang try to cheer him up by organizing a farewell party for him, but it doesn't seem to lift Sophocles' spirits.

Just as the rocket is about to take off, an unexpected thunderstorm sweeps in. The launch is delayed, and everyone is forced to take shelter inside the observatory. While they're waiting for the storm to pass, Sophocles goes to his personal lab to work on his latest invention. The gang follows him, and they're amazed by his newest creation, an electronic flute that can summon certain types of Pokemon.

Sophocles explains that he developed the flute as a way to communicate with his favorite Pokemon, Charjabug. He demonstrates it for everyone, and they're all impressed by how well it works. Sophocles' parents arrive at the lab and, to their surprise, they're impressed by his latest invention as well. They realize just how important Sophocles' passion for machinery is to him and decide to let him stay at the observatory rather than taking him back home.

With the storm finally over, the group heads outside to watch the rocket take off. Sophocles plays his flute, and Charjabug appears, helping the gang to launch an unconventional countdown for the rocket. As the rocket finally blasts off into space, Sophocles' parents tell him that they're proud of him and that they support his love for machinery as long as he is happy.

As the sun sets over the observatory, the group says goodbye to Sophocles, who promises to keep in touch with them. Ash and his friends continue on their journey, but they're sad to see their friend go. They all know that they'll see him again someday and that he'll continue to invent amazing things that will change the world of Pokemon forever.
