Back in the forest, Leina and Tomoe are ambushed by a group of bandits. Tomoe distracts the bandits while Leina makes her escape, but she is quickly captured by another group of attackers. The bandits, who are working for the fanged assassin, try to use Leina as bait to lure Tomoe into a trap. However, Tomoe is too skilled for their plan to work and is able to rescue Leina and take down the bandits.

As Claudette's army makes their way through the mountain pass, they come under attack from another dragon. However, Vance's plan works and the soldiers are able to lure the dragon away from the pass, allowing Claudette's forces to cross safely. The episode ends with Claudette and her army marching towards the capital city, ready for battle.
