In season 2 episode 2 of River Monsters titled “Demon Fish,” Jeremy Wade, the host and expert angler, travels to the Amur River in eastern Russia to investigate rumors of a giant fish with human-like teeth that has been attacking people. The locals believe the creature is a demon and Wade is on a mission to uncover the truth.

Wade begins his investigation by speaking to witnesses who have encountered the creature. He learns that it has been attacking fishermen and swimmers in the river, leaving them with deep bite marks and often dragging them underwater. The only description the witnesses can give is that the creature has a long body, very sharp teeth and is incredibly strong.

Wade decides to set up his base camp on the riverbank, where he starts to prepare his gear for his first fishing expedition. He believes that the creature may be a type of catfish and plans to use a special type of bait to lure it in. He also brings along a camera crew to capture any footage of the creature that he may encounter.

On his first day of fishing, Wade uses a live bait rig and waits patiently for the creature to take the bait. As the day goes on, he catches several small fish but no sign of the demon fish. Wade then decides to try a different tactic and switches to using a hand line and a slab of meat as bait instead.

As Wade sits on the riverbank waiting, he begins to feel a tug on his line. He quickly grabs the line and starts to reel it in but realizes that he has caught an enormous fish. After a long and strenuous battle, Wade manages to bring the fish to the surface. He is shocked to find that it is not a catfish but a giant pike, which is incredibly rare in the Amur River.

Despite not catching the demon fish on his first attempt, Wade is energized by his catch and decides to keep fishing. As the days go on, he tries several different types of bait and techniques but still has no success in catching the demon fish.

Next, Wade seeks the help of a local fisherman who has had several encounters with the creature. The fisherman tells Wade about a specific section of the river where he has seen the demon fish before and offers to take him there.

After a long journey up the river, Wade and the fisherman arrive at the site. Wade is armed with a special type of bait that he believes will attract the demon fish. As he casts his line into the water, he feels a strong tug on his line. This time, there is no mistake, Wade has finally caught the demon fish.

Wade's catch is a giant sawfish, which has a long, flat snout with sharp teeth protruding from either side. The creature is incredibly powerful and puts up a relentless fight, pulling Wade's boat down the river. Despite its size and strength, Wade manages to safely bring the creature to shore.

As much as catching the demon fish is a monumental achievement, Wade’s mission is to find out why this aggressive fish is behaving in this way. Throughout the episode, he makes sure to respect the creature and tries not to harm it in any way.

In the end, Wade’s encounter with the demon fish helps shed some light on its behavior. He discovers that the creature has been attacking people because it has been accidentally caught in fishing nets which resulted in the creatures defensive behavior.

Overall, this episode offers a thrilling and informative exploration of the world's waterways and the creatures that inhabit them. Wade uses his expertise and experience to provide insight into the behavior and habits of these fascinating creatures. Fans of the show and anyone with an interest in nature and adventure will find plenty of excitement in this riveting episode.
