As the twelfth episode of the Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign season 1, "Everyone's a Sinner" picks up from the intense cliffhanger that left the viewers wondering about Yoichi's fate. The episode effectively develops the plot and brings out some of the most pivotal aspects of the story. The episode highlights the characters' motivations and showcases their actions, effectively leading to an overall enhanced viewing experience.

The episode begins with Shinoa Squad being summoned to the central command of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, where they encounter the hiiragi family head, Kureto. The timing of the summons seems a bit off to Yuuichiro, considering the fight with the vampires and the fact that they were supposed to go back to their everyday routine. The squad was told that they would undergo a test in which they need to protect a single noble from the vampire's attack. The test comes with a complicated twist: whichever squad lost would face severe consequences, with their members turning into the fodder for experimentation and upgrades done on the human soldiers to have a better fight against the vampires.

As the squad receives this news, they embark on their mission with full force. The main objective of the plan was to lure the vampire noble, Ferid Bathory, and his team to capture him since he has information relating to Yuu's quest to avenge his family. The plan had several conditions at play, but the risks and stakes continued to escalate throughout the episode. The tension piled on when it turned out that the noble they were assigned to protect was the very person that Yuuichiro had vowed to kill - Krul Tepes, the vampire queen.

As they get ready to fight, each member of the squad gets an opportunity to shine, showing their prowess in combat against the vampires. Yoichi, who was injured in the previous episode, gains redemption moments as he uses his cursed gear to great effect. The squad works well together, proving that they are highly capable of completing the task assigned to them. Throughout the mission, they come across various enemies and obstacles that push them to their limits.

The episode manages to mix in important plot points with character development. One of the primary subplots is the backstory of the vampire queen's involvement with the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. As the series gradually unfolds, viewers begin to understand Krul's motivations. Although she is a vampire, she sympathizes with humans to some extent. Meanwhile, Kureto continues to remain an enigma. In this episode, he comes off as even more monstrous, demonstrating his capacity for cruelty and manipulation.

As the episode progresses, viewers are treated to some of the best action sequences of the season. The animation is fluid and dynamic. Every blow hits with impact, and the sound effects complement the visuals effectively. The culmination of the fight shows off not only the squad's skills but also their faith in each other. For an episode that revolves around a single battle with numerous complexities, the events are easy to follow, making the episode an absolute joy to watch.

"Everyone's a Sinner" delivers another excellent addition to an already great anime series. It showcases the show's exceptional animation and balances it with a mixture of action and plot progression. The episode raises the bar for what viewers can expect from Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign, setting up the final episodes of the season nicely. Finally, the episode leaves viewers with more questions as the protagonists continue to move towards their goal.
