Ep 7. Covenant, Part 1

Set in the highly acclaimed forensic pathology department of a London teaching hospital, Silent Witness follows a team of pathologists as they investigate various crimes through the evidence they collect from victims' bodies. With over twenty seasons, the show is a fan favorite among police procedural dramas.

Episode seven of season 20, titled "Covenant, Part 1," picks up where the previous episode left off. In this episode, the team at the Lyell Centre is called upon to investigate the gruesome murder of a teenage girl whose body is found in a shallow grave. When the police find a second body of a young woman in similar circumstances in the same area, it becomes evident that a serial killer is on the loose.

Given the similarities in the murders, the team is tasked with establishing a connection between the victims. While examining the first victim's remains, they notice a strange burn mark on her chest, which sparks their curiosity. Meanwhile, the second body is examined by forensic toxicologist Jack Hodgson, who discovers evidence pointing towards the use of a poisonous tranquilizer in the murder.

As the team continues its investigation, they soon realize that the case is more complicated than they had initially imagined. It becomes clear that they are dealing with a group of individuals with a shared ideology. The team is led down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, religious fanaticism, and deeply ingrained prejudices.

Their investigation leads them to a cult-like religious sect, where the first victim was a member. The pathologists are forced to navigate through a web of lies and deceit to uncover the truth about the murders. Meanwhile, forensic examiner Thomas Chamberlain uncovers a link between the chemical used in the second murder and a pharmaceutical company.

As with any good police procedural drama, this episode is packed with plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's a perfect blend of science, drama, and suspense. With its gripping storyline and compelling characters, "Covenant, Part 1" is an excellent addition to the Silent Witness franchise.
