Ep 2. Two Spirits: Part Two

Two Spirits: Part Two picks up where its predecessor left off, with the investigation into Trudy Pomeroy's murder continuing in earnest. Pathologist Jack Hodgson (David Caves) is still reeling from the discovery of the bones of his estranged mother, who he presumed to be alive and living in Australia. Meanwhile, the rest of the team comprising the highly-skilled forensic pathologists of the Lyell Centre - Dr. Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox), Dr. Thomas Chamberlain (Richard Lintern), and scientist Clarissa Mullery (Liz Carr) - parse through the evidence to find Trudy's murderer.

As they inch closer to the truth, it becomes clear that someone else is stalking the streets of London and is as desperate to find her killer as the Lyell Centre is. Following a second murder, the team accelerates its investigation and discovers that the two incidences are linked. The trail leads them to the doors of New Horizons, a secure psychiatric hospital, where they encounter two women, both of whom present a challenge for the team.

First of these is patient Hannah Conway (Holli Dempsey), struggling with mental health issues, who refuses to divulge anything about the death of her uncle or her possible involvement in the killings. As the team tries to find out more, they discover that she has been harbouring a dangerous secret, which may have serious consequences not just for her, but for those around her.

The second is Ruby Albright, daughter of the hospital's director, Dr. Lydia Albright, played by Ruth Madeley (also known for her roles in Years and Years and The Rook). Ruby and Hannah appear to be linked, both of them harbouring secrets that are tied to the murders. The team discovers a complex set of relationships that lead them down a road of deeper intrigue. The staff of New Horizons, including Dr. Albright herself, get caught up in the ensuing investigation into the murders.

As the Lyell Centre team works to unravel the mysteries surrounding Trudy's and the other victim's murders, they come to realise that the individuals involved are not what they seem. An unexpected turn of events puts their own lives in danger, forcing them to hurry to find the truth before it's too late.

Two Spirits: Part Two is the latest instalment in the Silent Witness series, which has captured audiences around the world for two decades. Through thoughtful and gripping storytelling, the show explores the complexities of forensic pathology and criminal investigation, where nothing is as straightforward as it seems.
