In Smart Guy season 1 episode 3, titled "Brother, Brother," the audience is introduced to a new character, Marcus Henderson. Marcus is T.J.'s older brother who has recently returned home after being kicked out of college for bad grades and failing to manage his temper. The episode explores the relationship between T.J. and Marcus as they try to reconnect and find common ground.

T.J. is excited to have his older brother back home and is eager to spend time with him. However, Marcus is resistant to T.J.'s attempts to bond and brushes him off. T.J. feels hurt and confused but continues to try to connect with his brother. Meanwhile, Marcus is trying to figure out his next move now that he's out of college.

The rest of the Henderson family is wary of Marcus's return, given his history of bad behavior. Floyd, the father, is particularly worried about Marcus influencing T.J. in a negative way. Yvette, the oldest sibling, is resentful of Marcus's return, given how much trouble he caused in the past. However, Mo, T.J.'s best friend, is excited to have another friend around and encourages T.J. to keep trying to connect with Marcus.

As the episode progresses, we see tension build between T.J. and Marcus. T.J. is trying to show Marcus how he's grown up and become more responsible, but Marcus is dismissive. This leads to an argument between the two brothers, where Marcus accuses T.J. of being a nerd and not living life to the fullest. T.J. is hurt by this, but Mo helps him realize that he shouldn't change who he is just to please his brother.

Meanwhile, Yvette starts to see a different side of Marcus when he talks to her about his struggles in college. She realizes that he's not just a troublemaker and that he's been through a tough time. She encourages him to take responsibility for his mistakes and start working towards a better future.

In the end, T.J. and Marcus have a heart-to-heart conversation where they both open up about their feelings. Marcus apologizes for his behavior and admits that he's jealous of T.J.'s success. T.J. forgives him and tells him that he's proud of him for trying to do better. The episode ends with Marcus deciding to take some community college classes to improve his grades and start building a better future for himself.

Overall, "Brother, Brother" is a touching look at the relationship between siblings and the importance of forgiveness and acceptance. The episode handles its themes with care and sensitivity, and the performances from the cast are excellent. It's a standout episode in an already strong first season of Smart Guy.
