Swamp Hunters is a reality TV show that follows D'Roy and Dustin Taylor, a father-and-son team who are relic hunters. Relic hunters search through swamps to find lost treasures left behind by militiamen, outlaws, and other people. D'Roy and Dustin don't work alone. Their team also consists of Dustin's younger brother, Big Al, and three of his cousins, James, Bobo, and Kacey. The Taylors live in the Honey Island Swamp, an area on the Louisiana/Mississippi border. Each team member has his own role. D'Roy leads his fellow swamp hunters and teaches them important things, such as having a "swamp eye" to find things in a swamp. D'Roy combines his extensive knowledge of the Honey Island Swamp with his ability to find local legends. Dustin grew up with an insatiable thirst for local history. At a young age, he began researching local history at the library. Dustin still uses his research skills to find information behind the local legends. James is the family's expert on technology. He uses the internet to research local legends and plan their relic hunts. Big Al is the new guy on the team. After helping out with post-Katrina reconstruction, Big Al came back home to help his family with relic hunting. He also provides laughs by being klutzy and playing pranks. Bobo and Kacey provide the muscle on the Swamp Hunters. They're both famous for their fighting abilities. After finding the relics, the Taylors sell these treasures to anyone willing to buy them, including collectors, antique dealers, and pawnshops. Relic hunting might seem like a great way to make some extra money. However, finding relics isn't as easy as some people think. The Taylors have to face wild animals, such as alligators, snakes, and boar. There are also other relic hunters looking for the same items. Relic hunters also have to be careful about where they dig. For example, they can't dig on someone's property.
