In the third episode of season one of Tales From the Crypt, titled "Dig That Cat...He's Real Gone", we follow the twisted tale of Ulric (Joe Pantoliano), a man obsessed with his cat, Cleo. Ulric is convinced that Cleo can communicate with him and that she is dying. He desperately seeks out a veterinarian named Dr. Emil Manfred (Roy Brocksmith), who can perform the inhumane procedure of transferring the cat's nine lives into his own body.

As Ulric begins to exhibit strange cat-like behaviors, he becomes increasingly fixated on Cleo's death and the need to find more lives. He eventually discovers that there is another cat with nine lives: a stray who has been terrorizing the neighborhood. Ulric sets out to catch and kill the cat, hoping to steal its lives and prolong his own existence.

Throughout the episode, there are several twists and turns as Ulric's plan begins to unravel. The audience is left wondering whether Ulric is truly communicating with Cleo or if he has simply lost his mind. As the tension builds, the stakes get higher, and the audience is left on the edge of their seats.

As with all episodes of Tales From the Crypt, "Dig That Cat...He's Real Gone" delivers plenty of macabre moments and dark humor. The episode features a standout performance from Pantoliano, whose portrayal of Ulric perfectly captures the character's descent into madness.

Overall, "Dig That Cat...He's Real Gone" is a great example of the kind of twisted storytelling that made Tales From the Crypt such a cult favorite. It's a darkly entertaining episode that will keep viewers guessing until the very end.
