In The Donna Reed Show season 1 episode 22 titled "Love Thy Neighbor," Donna is excited to have new neighbors move in next door. However, the Stone family is not exactly what she was expecting. Mrs. Stone is cold and unfriendly, while her daughter, Cindy, is a spoiled brat who constantly causes trouble for Donna's children.
Donna tries to be hospitable and invite them over for dinner, but Mrs. Stone rejects the offer. Donna soon learns that the Stones have had trouble getting along with their previous neighbors as well, leading her to wonder if they are the problem.
Meanwhile, Alex, Donna's husband, is busy trying to impress a potential client by inviting him over for a fancy dinner. However, his plans are disrupted when their youngest son, Jeff, accidentally breaks the client's antique vase while playing in the living room.
As tensions rise between the Stones and the Reeds, Donna tries to find a way to reconcile their differences. She reaches out to Mrs. Stone and invites her over for coffee to try and mend their relationship. While their conversation is initially cold and awkward, Donna is able to break through to Mrs. Stone and they begin to bond over shared experiences.
Cindy, however, continues to be a problem. She steals a toy from one of Donna's children and refuses to give it back, causing a fight between the kids. Donna tries to reason with Cindy, but she remains stubborn and selfish.
In the end, Donna and Mrs. Stone come to an understanding and their relationship improves. As the Stones pack up to move away, Cindy finally apologizes to Donna's children and returns the stolen toy. Despite the rocky start, Donna is able to show love and kindness to her neighbors and ultimately come out on top.
