In the third episode of season 3 of The FBI Files, titled "Terror in Disguise," viewers are taken on a thrilling journey into the inner workings of a complex and deadly terror plot.

The episode begins with the discovery of pipe bombs in the Atlanta, Georgia area in the early 1990s. The bombs were of a particular design, leading law enforcement officials to believe that they were the work of a single individual. As the investigation unfolds, the FBI receives a threat letter from someone claiming responsibility for the bombs and warning of future attacks.

Agents immediately begin working to identify the person behind the threat, but progress is slow. The subject has taken great pains to cover his tracks, leaving little evidence behind. However, the team eventually receives a break in the case when a shattered pipe bomb is discovered near a shopping mall in Atlanta.

Forensic examination of the bomb yields a significant piece of evidence: a fingerprint. The print is identified as belonging to a man named Eric Robert Rudolph, a former soldier with a history of anti-government extremism.

Despite this breakthrough, Rudolph proves elusive. He goes into hiding in the rugged mountains of North Carolina, taking advantage of his survivalist skills to avoid capture. However, the FBI, determined to bring him to justice, launches an extensive manhunt, employing some of the most advanced surveillance and tracking techniques available at the time.

Along the way, the investigation into Rudolph's activities reveals that he is also responsible for a series of other bombings, including the horrific attack on the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, in which two people were killed and over 100 injured.

As the FBI continues to close in on Rudolph, tensions mount, culminating in a dramatic standoff in the woods of North Carolina. Ultimately, Rudolph is apprehended and brought to justice, but not before causing significant damage and loss of life.

"Terror in Disguise" is a gripping episode that takes viewers on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns as law enforcement officials race against time to stop a dangerous terrorist. Through interviews with agents involved in the investigation, as well as dramatic reenactments and actual footage of the manhunt, the episode provides a detailed look at the workings of a complex case that required dogged determination and advanced techniques to solve.

Overall, "Terror in Disguise" is a must-see episode of The FBI Files, offering insight into the vital work of the men and women who protect our communities from threats both foreign and domestic.
