The FBI Files season 7 episode 13, titled "Sniper at Home," is a gripping tale of a manhunt for a shooter who terrorized a suburban community. The episode begins with the sounds of gunfire echoing on the streets, as the police and the FBI arrive on the scene to investigate a series of shootings that have left innocent people dead and injured.

The detectives working the case soon realize that they are dealing with a cunning and intelligent shooter, who has carefully planned his attacks to remain undetected. As the investigation continues, the FBI sifts through evidence, including ballistic analysis, eyewitness accounts, and surveillance footage, to piece together the shooter's identity and motives. Along the way, they uncover a trail of clues that lead them to the home of a man named Mark O. Barton.

Barton, a failed day trader, had lost nearly all of his family's savings in the stock market crash of 1999. Desperate to provide for his family and suffering from severe depression, Barton turned to a life of crime in an attempt to right his financial wrongs. Using his knowledge of the stock market, Barton began to rob banks and investment firms, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and securities.

Despite his criminal activities, Barton managed to elude authorities for some time, and continued to live a seemingly normal life with his wife and children. However, the stress of his double life began to take its toll, and in July of 1999, Barton snapped. Armed with an arsenal of weapons, including a .45 caliber pistol, Barton set out on a deadly shooting spree, targeting the very financial institutions he had robbed.

Over the course of two days, Barton killed twelve people and injured thirteen others before turning the gun on himself. The FBI's investigation into the shooting spree revealed a complex and troubled individual, whose desperate attempt to provide for his family had led to a downward spiral of depression and violence.

The episode is a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences of unchecked mental illness, and the impact that financial stress can have on individuals and communities. Through interviews with law enforcement officials, bystanders, and members of Barton's family, the viewer is given a rare insight into the mind of a mass shooter, and the painstaking work that goes into tracking down and bringing to justice those who perpetrate such horrific crimes.

The FBI Files season 7 episode 13 offers a riveting and emotional look at a tragic event in American history, and is a must-watch for fans of true crime and law enforcement dramas. The show's use of archival footage, detailed reenactments, and expert analysis makes for a compelling viewing experience, packed with insights into the tactics and strategies used by the FBI to solve even the most complex of cases. Overall, "Sniper at Home" is an excellent addition to the series, and a testament to the FBI's tireless efforts to protect the American people from harm.
