Ep 15. Red Lacquer Nail Polish

Patrick Jane and the CBI team investigate the murder of a high-end fashion designer, Amanda Shaw, who was found dead in her own home. She was strangled to death by using a red lacquer nail polish mixed with poison which was used to paint her nails. The killer left a message written in her own blood on the wall of her house, which says "Red Rum" that hints towards the real motive behind this murder.

The killer planned this murder meticulously, leaving almost no clues behind for the detectives to follow, but Patrick Jane realizes that the murder was not motivated by money or jealousy, which were the most obvious possibilities. Instead, he suspects that her death was due to the fashion industry, which Amanda was a part of.

As the investigation progresses, the team discovers that Amanda was planning to launch a brand new clothing line which would completely disrupt the industry. But, her business partner, Rebecca, who had invested a lot of money in the old fashion business, was unhappy about the idea and was against the launch of the new clothing line.

While interviewing Amanda's friends and family, Jane learns that Amanda had a secret bank account, and a few questionable financial transactions were made from it. The investigation leads them to an underground poker club, where they discover that Amanda was a high-stakes gambler, and the red lacquer nail polish was a common sign used by all the players as a good luck charm.

The deeper the CBI team delves into the investigation, the more they start to realize that Amanda had more enemies than they initially thought, including her ex-husband, her ex-business partner, and even the CEO of the fashion brand that she once worked with.

As the investigation reaches its conclusion, Jane and the CBI team discover that the killer wasn't any of the suspects that they had initially suspected, but rather someone who was part of the poker club. The killer is arrested, and justice is served.
