Meanwhile, Dwight is struggling to find a new assistant after Jim accepts a job in a different branch of Dunder Mifflin. He posts an ad online for the position and receives several applications. However, he is not satisfied with any of the applicants and decides to hold a series of tests to determine the best candidate. The tests include physical challenges, IQ tests, and a “Sales by the Book” competition. The candidates have to impress Dwight with their skills and knowledge to secure the job. However, things don’t go as planned, and the candidates end up sabotaging each other to gain an advantage.

Back at the office, Ryan offers to invest in Wuphf.com, and Michael is delighted. He believes that Ryan’s experience in social networking will be a great asset to the site. However, Michael soon learns that Ryan is not interested in the site at all. He just wants to use Michael’s idea to promote his own website. Michael is disappointed, and his dream of owning a successful business begins to fade away.

Later in the episode, Jim and Pam organize a second Christmas party in the office after the first one was ruined by Meredith’s drunken behavior. They plan a secret Santa gift exchange and invite everyone to participate. However, things don’t go as planned, and the gift exchange turns out to be a disaster. Creed, who has been secretly stealing items from the office all year, ends up with almost all the gifts and ruins the party for everyone.

As the episode comes to a close, Michael is devastated by the failure of his idea. He is heartbroken and feels like a failure. However, his co-workers come together to lift him up, and he realizes that they are the ones who make the office a special place. They may not always agree with him, but they always have his back.
