The episode begins with a playful otter named Peanut who has been having trouble with a dental issue. Dr. Mike and his team perform a regular teeth cleaning on Peanut but find a small bump on his gums that needs close examination. The team is able to identify the cause of the bump and prescribe the required medicine to treat it while giving Peanut a clean bill of health.
The next case involves a baby flamingo that was born with the floppy foot syndrome. The team puts together a brace to support the baby bird’s leg and help it stand up straight. The brace will help the flamingo gain the strength to walk and hopefully grow healthy and strong.
Moving on, we meet a California sea lion named Kronk who has been diagnosed with arthritis. The team constructs a wheelchair to help the sea lion move around and continue to thrive in its home. The veterinary team also provides various medications to help alleviate the joint pain and shares strategies for the caretakers to implement over time to keep Kronk comfortable and mobile.
The episode also highlights some of the playful and social behaviors of the animals at Busch Gardens. The caretakers share stories of the animals they care for, their unique personalities, and their ongoing learning. A team member introduces us to a troop of macaques, who show us their creative diversions as they play with their enrichment balls and build complicated structures in their habitat. Meanwhile, a visit to the penguin exhibit introduces us to a penguin named Tuxedo Turk, who is almost 30 years old - making him a senior citizen in the penguin world. He is described as a fussy eater, so the caretakers have to experiment with different types of fish before they find one that Turk likes and eats consistently.
One of the final cases involves two bobcats named Nitro and Cimarron, rescued from Oklahoma and brought to Busch Gardens. The two were found fighting over food and competing for territory before being saved and brought to the park. The team at Busch Gardens does rigorous health check-ups for Nitro and Cimarron's welcome and create a custom enclosure suiting their personalities for them.
