Trading Spaces is an American home design television series that features two sets of neighbors as they swap homes and put their design skills to the test. Season 9 episode 3 is titled "Making Over the Parents" and it follows the journey of two couples, one of which is a set of busy parents who desperately need a home makeover.

Amanda and Michael are the parents of three young children and they live in a cramped and cluttered home that is in desperate need of an overhaul. Their neighbors, Bridgette and Anthony, are tasked with transforming their home into a modern and functional living space that suits the needs of the growing family.

Bridgette and Anthony are given two days and a budget of $2000 to complete the project, while Amanda and Michael are sent away on a mini-vacation to give the designers full reign over their home. Bridgette and Anthony have very different design styles, with Bridgette being more rustic and Anthony preferring a modern and industrial aesthetic. The challenge will be to find a way to incorporate both design styles into a cohesive and functional space that works for the family.

The first thing the design team does is to clear out all the clutter and organize the space. They start by removing all the outdated and bulky furniture and replacing it with more modern and multifunctional pieces. They also create several storage solutions to keep the space clean and organized.

Bridgette takes charge of the living room and dining room area, using a rustic farmhouse theme as inspiration. She incorporates warm wood tones, rustic accents and uses vintage items to add a touch of character to the space. She creates a focal point in the living room with a statement wall featuring a reclaimed wood accent and mount a TV.

Anthony, on the other hand, focuses on the kitchen and family room areas. He uses a more industrial style characterized by the use of metal, concrete, and a sleek color palette. He creates a modern open plan kitchen that includes an island bar, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances. He installs smart home tech that allows the family to control lighting, climate, and other systems with their smartphone.

The result of their teamwork is incredible, and Amanda and Michael are over the moon with the changes to their home. They can now enjoy their home without the clutter, making it the perfect destination for their energetic family.

Trading Spaces season 9 episode 3 "Making Over the Parents" is an excellent episode that showcases the show's potential to renovate and transform homes. It's a heartwarming tale of team effort and creativity as the design team works together to create a beautiful living space for Amanda and Michael.
