Ep 4. The Baja-Ha-Ha Race/Real Gone Ape

In the fourth episode of Wacky Races' first season, titled "The Baja-Ha-Ha Race/Real Gone Ape," the competition heats up as the drivers head to Baja, Mexico for their next race.

As the racers prepare for the start of the Baja-Ha-Ha Race, Dick Dastardly and Muttley hatch yet another scheme to try and win the race. This time, they've enlisted the help of an orangutan named Zippy to ride along with them in their car. Zippy proves to be quite a handful, though, and his mischievous antics cause all sorts of chaos throughout the race.

Meanwhile, the other racers are also dealing with their fair share of challenges. Penelope Pitstop and Peter Perfect team up in an attempt to outrun all of the others, while the Ant Hill Mob use their various disguises to try and get ahead. The Gruesome Twosome, as usual, are causing trouble for everyone else on the road.

As the race progresses, Zippy's antics become more and more outlandish. He causes Dick Dastardly's car to crash, and is then recruited by the Ant Hill Mob to help them win the race. But even with Zippy's help, the Ant Hill Mob struggles to keep up with Penelope Pitstop and Peter Perfect.

Finally, after a hard-fought battle between all of the racers, Penelope and Peter emerge as the winners of the Baja-Ha-Ha Race. But their victory is short-lived, as they soon find themselves face-to-face with a giant gorilla in the middle of the jungle.

In the second segment of the episode, titled "Real Gone Ape," Wacky Races takes a decidedly more surreal turn. The entire episode is set in a jungle, where the racers become embroiled in a frantic chase after a banana that has fallen from a cargo plane.

Throughout the episode, the racers are pursued by an oddly familiar-looking giant gorilla. The gorilla steals the banana at one point and takes off, causing the racers to give chase once more. As they try to catch up with the gorilla, they each encounter one strange obstacle after another.

In a surprising twist, it is eventually revealed that the gorilla is actually a disguised Dick Dastardly and Muttley, who are once again trying to sabotage the other racers. But just as they think they've won, the racers band together to outsmart the scheming duo and save the coveted banana.

With its wacky characters and wild, unpredictable scenarios, "The Baja-Ha-Ha Race/Real Gone Ape" is a classic example of the zany humor that made Wacky Races such a beloved cartoon. From giant gorillas to mischievous orangutans, this episode has it all – and it's sure to leave viewers laughing from start to finish.
