Warriors from History is an 8-episode historical drama mini-series that aired in 1999. The show dramatizes the lives of famous military leaders and warriors throughout history. Other episodes feature Cal MacAninch as Ming dynasty admiral Zheng He, known for his treasure voyages across the Indian Ocean; Tom Ward as Richard the Lionheart, the crusading English king; Predrag Bjelac as 14th century Serbian prince Lazar Hrebeljanović, martyred at the Battle of Kosovo against the Ottoman Empire; Jodhi May as Boudica, the Celtic queen who led a uprising against Roman forces in ancient Britain; Branka Katić as Lakshmi Bai, the Indian queen who resisted British annexation in the 1857 rebellion; and Enis Bešerler as 11th century Seljuk sultan Alp Arslan, who expanded the Turkic empire across Persia and Anatolia.

Filmed on location across Europe, Asia and North Africa, the series conveys the grand scale of its subjects' lives. Detailed costuming, props and sets transport the viewer back to these eras of upheaval and conquest. The insightful scripts highlight the internal struggles, motivations and contradictions of each warrior, as well as the pivotal battles that shaped their legacies.

Lewis brings Napoleon's charisma and intellect to life, charting his unquenchable ambition from obscure origins to mastery of a continent.
