The WKRP staff are all in for a surprise when Tracy, whom Dr. Johnny Fever hired as a substitute receptionist while Jennifer was out of town, brings in a surprise guest preacher, Reverend Little Ed, to the station. With Dr. Fever not wanting to disturb his "buzz," the rest of the staff welcomes Rev. Ed with open arms, but it becomes quickly apparent that he's more interested in gathering donations for his "missionary work" than spreading the good word. Meanwhile, Herb, after a failed attempt to score tickets to a Bengals game by flirting with the box office girl, convinces Andy that a sports show should be added to the KKRP schedule to compete with the other stations.

As the episode progresses, it becomes clear that Reverend Little Ed has some lascivious intentions towards the WKRP women, and is using his charm and religious facade to con them into giving up their money. The staff ultimately becomes divided when it comes to dealing with Little Ed, with some believing that letting him continue the charade is harmless, while others try to find ways to expose him and take him down.

The dilemma culminates in a chaotic scene involving the preacher, the staff, and the visiting Bengals football players, who get involved in the chaos after Herb invites them onto the air during a live broadcast. The scene is wrapped up in a satisfying way, with the episode coming to close with Alice finally risking it all to go against the preacher and take him down, proving that the women of WKRP won't be fooled by any shystering con artist.

Overall, this episode is a riotous and satirical take on televangelism and the manipulation that can happen under the guise of religious rhetoric. It features strong performances from the cast, with standouts including Howard Hesseman as Dr. Johnny Fever, who gets to flex his comic timing as he tries to avoid engaging with Little Ed; and Jan Smithers as Bailey Quarters, who takes Little Ed to task after discovering his true intentions. The episode is an excellent example of the show's sharp writing and cleverly executed humor, making it a must-watch for fans of the sitcom.
