Directed by Sophia Coppola, the 2010 film Somewhere has a running time of 98 minutes and is rated R. Described as a comedy-drama, Somewhere is a movie about a man having an existential crisis. After finding fame, the lead character Johnny Marco, does not feel the contentment or happiness he thought he would. The film explores the ideas or restlessness, apathy, and depression in not only those who are famous, but also in the everyday person who may find that life is not turning out to be or providing what he or she expected. In addition to the lead character's existential crisis, his 11-year-old daughter comes to stay with him after his ex-wife suffers a breakdown. Through the developing relationship with his daughter, Johnny Marco is able to search for the meaning of life and discover what makes life worth living. The film uses humor and identifiable situations to help the audience identify with the main character on his inner journey.
