In the West region, No. 1 seed Michigan State was upset by No. 4 seed Louisville. In the Midwest region, No. 2 seed Ohio State defeated No. 1 seed Syracuse in a close game. The Final Four was held on March 31 in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the first game, No. 1 seed Kentucky defeated No. 4 seed Louisville in a highly anticipated matchup between two in-state rivals. The second game saw No. 2 seed Ohio State face off against No. 2 seed Kansas, with Kansas coming out on top in a close game to advance to the championship game.

The championship game was held on April 2 and pitted No. 1 seed Kentucky against No. 2 seed Kansas. In the end, it was Kentucky who emerged victorious, winning their eighth national championship in school history with a score of 67-59.
