Ep 16. Tile Paint, New Faucet
In season 13 episode 16 of Ask This Old House, titled Tile Paint, New Faucet, the crew tackles two different home improvement projects. First up, host Kevin O'Connor goes to Providence, Rhode Island to assist a homeowner in painting tile. The homeowner had previously painted the outdated tiles in her bathroom, but the paint began to chip and peel. Kevin instructs her on how to properly prep the surface and apply the tile paint correctly. The result is a refreshed, modernized bathroom without the expense of replacing the tile.
Meanwhile, in New Jersey, landscape contractor Roger Cook visits a homeowner who wants to replace an old, leaky outdoor faucet. Roger and the homeowner work together to cut the pipe and install a new frost-proof sillcock. Roger also gives advice on how to properly drain and winterize the faucet to prevent it from freezing in the winter.
Back in Providence, plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey visits a homeowner who needs help with her kitchen faucet. The homeowner has a leaky and outdated faucet that sprays water in all directions. Richard demonstrates how to quickly and easily replace the faucet with a new model.
Finally, back in the workshop, Kevin and Tom Silva team up to answer viewer questions. They cover topics such as how to fix a bathroom fan that is too loud, how to repair a sagging porch, and how to remove an old shower door.
Throughout the episode, the crew provides helpful tips and tricks for DIY home improvement projects. From proper surface preparation to installing new plumbing fixtures, viewers will learn a variety of skills to improve their own homes.
