Ep 9. Old Flames, New Sparks

Olivia Lockhart, the judge at Cedar Cove is struggling with her own love life in the ninth episode of the show's first season. She has to choose between two men, her old flame, Jack Griffith, and the sweet, attentive Dr. Eric Griffith. Meanwhile, Jack is in some legal trouble, and Olivia cannot be his lawyer because too much is riding on this case for her to risk her career by being emotionally involved. Maryellen Sherman discovers Jon Bowman's family background, which leads her to confront him about their relationship. When Jon tells her he can't commit to her, she tries to move on by setting her sights on a new prospect, but it won't be easy.

Meanwhile, a new couple enters Cedar Cove in the form of Warren Saget, the CEO of a tech start-up, and his wife, Alex. Warren has his sights set on buying a resort that the Cedar Cove community is passionate about keeping in its original form. However, Olivia soon realizes that the couple may have moved to Cedar Cove for more than just business opportunities, and this will cause some tension in the community.

In Cedar Cove, the community cares deeply about preserving the history and continuity of their town. Older couples hold the stories and memories of the town's past and younger couples aspire to build a future within the establishment. Sometimes nostalgia blends with future aspirations. The dynamic of fledgling and established relationships shows the entire spectrum of Cedar Cove. Relationships built on childhood memories and those carved from shared experiences make the town magical. The development of the relationships and the evolution of their characters create a home in Cedar Cove.
