In the first episode of the historical drama series Dr. Jin, we are introduced to our protagonist, Jin Hyuk, a talented neurosurgeon in modern-day South Korea. Despite his successful career, Jin Hyuk finds himself constantly haunted by a traumatic incident from his past which resulted in the death of his girlfriend. Struggling to cope with his guilt and grief, he immerses himself in his work, often neglecting the people closest to him.

One day, while performing surgery, Jin Hyuk suddenly loses consciousness and wakes up in the year 1860 during the Joseon Dynasty - a period of great unrest and political upheaval in Korea. Disoriented and confused, he soon realizes that he has somehow time-traveled to the past and is now living in a different world.

As he tries to acclimate to his new surroundings, Jin Hyuk meets several important historical figures such as King Gojong, Queen Min, and Kim Hong Do, a famous painter. He also encounters Lee Ha Eung, a powerful nobleman and father to the future king, who becomes his benefactor.

It is soon revealed that Jin Hyuk has been brought to the past to save a young woman's life. This woman is none other than Hong Young Rae, a talented physician who is struggling to establish herself in a male-dominated field. When Young Rae is tasked with saving the Queen's life, she turns to Jin Hyuk for help, recognizing his advanced medical knowledge. Together, they must navigate the challenges of practicing medicine in a society where it is often frowned upon, all while trying to avoid altering the course of history.

Throughout the episode, we also see glimpses of Jin Hyuk's life in the present day, where his colleagues frantically search for him after his mysterious disappearance. As Jin Hyuk struggles to come to terms with his new reality, he must also grapple with the possibility that he may never be able to return to his own time.

Overall, the first episode of Dr. Jin sets up an intriguing premise that combines elements of historical fiction, medical drama, and time travel. Through Jin Hyuk's experiences, we are transported to a fascinating era in Korean history and are introduced to a diverse cast of characters with their own distinct personalities and motivations. The show also delves into themes of gender roles, power dynamics, and the consequences of one's actions, making for a thought-provoking and engaging watch.
