Ep 11. Missed Connections

Jeff and Audrey decide to take a romantic getaway to Vermont, but their plans are ruined when they miss their connecting flight and are forced to stay overnight in Chicago. Meanwhile, Russell tries to impress his date by pretending to be a Cubs fan, and Timmy and Adam try to find a new roommate for their apartment.

The episode begins with Jeff and Audrey packing for their trip to Vermont. Jeff is excited to try the famous maple syrup, while Audrey is looking forward to relaxing in the cozy bed and breakfast they booked. However, their plans are derailed when they find out their connecting flight has been canceled due to bad weather in Vermont. Jeff is upset but Audrey suggests they make the most of the situation and explore Chicago for the night.

Meanwhile, Russell is on a date with a woman he met online who is a big Cubs fan. He knows nothing about sports, but pretends to be a diehard fan to impress her. He even goes so far as to buy a Cubs hat and learn some sports trivia. However, his date quickly sees through his act and calls him out on it. Russell is embarrassed and admits that he just wanted to impress her. Surprisingly, she finds his honesty refreshing and they decide to give their date another chance.

Back in Chicago, Jeff and Audrey are trying to make the most of their unexpected layover. They visit some tourist hotspots including the Willis Tower and the Navy Pier. However, Jeff is still upset about missing out on their Vermont trip and takes his frustrations out on Audrey. She confronts him about his behavior and they talk about their communication issues. Ultimately, they realize that they need to work on their relationship and make a conscious effort to be more open with each other.

Meanwhile, Timmy and Adam are looking for a new roommate for their apartment after their previous one moved out. They interview several candidates including a quirky artist, a germaphobe and a party animal. None of them meet their standards until they meet an old friend of Adam's who seems like the perfect fit. However, they soon find out that he has a pet snake, which Adam is deathly afraid of. They decide to take a chance on him and learn to live with the snake.

As the episode comes to an end, Jeff and Audrey finally make it to Vermont and enjoy their long-awaited vacation. Russell goes on another date with his Cubs fan, this time wearing his newly acquired Cubs hat with pride. Timmy, Adam and their new roommate settle into their new living arrangement, and the snake becomes an unexpected but amusing addition to their apartment.

Overall, "Missed Connections" is a lighthearted and enjoyable episode that showcases the comedic talents of the show's ensemble cast. Each storyline is given ample screen time and all of the characters have a chance to shine. While there are certainly some parts of the episode that feel predictable, the writing and performances elevate the material and make for an entertaining watch.
