The Beverly Hillbillies is a classic sitcom that aired from 1962 to 1971. The first episode, "The Clampetts Strike Oil," aired on September 26, 1962, and introduced viewers to the iconic Clampett family.

The episode begins in the backwoods of the Ozark Mountains, where Jedediah "Jed" Clampett and his family live in a rundown cabin. Jed is a simple but wise man who enjoys hunting and fishing with his loyal hound dog, Duke. His daughter Elly May is a tomboy who is more comfortable in dirty overalls than in dresses, and his mother-in-law Granny is a feisty old woman who is always stirring up trouble.

One day, while out hunting, Jed comes across a strange bubbling in the ground. He goes to investigate and discovers that he has struck oil. Excited by his newfound wealth, Jed rushes home to tell his family the good news. They immediately pack up their belongings and head to Beverly Hills to start a new life.

Once they arrive in Beverly Hills, the Clampetts are met with some confusion and a lot of judgment. Their old-fashioned ways and hillbilly accents make them stand out like sore thumbs in the posh community. But they are determined to make the best of their new life and to learn the ways of the city folk.

Jed is surprised to find out just how valuable his oil is, and he quickly hires a banker, Mr. Drysdale, to help him manage his newfound wealth. Drysdale is eager to keep the Clampetts happy and to make sure they don't move their money elsewhere, so he goes to great lengths to keep them in Beverly Hills. He enlists the help of his secretary, Miss Hathaway, to teach the family proper etiquette and to make sure they fit in with the high society of Beverly Hills.

Despite their best efforts, the Clampetts continue to make faux pas and to embarrass themselves. They are not used to the lavish lifestyle of Beverly Hills, and they struggle to understand the social customs and norms of their new community. But with the help of Drysdale and Miss Hathaway, they slowly start to get the hang of things.

In "The Clampetts Strike Oil," viewers are introduced to the lovable and quirky characters that make up the Clampett family. The episode sets up the premise for the rest of the series: a family of country bumpkins who strike it rich and move to Beverly Hills. While the show is often criticized for perpetuating negative stereotypes about rural Americans, it is also loved for its wholesome humor and heartwarming moments. The Clampetts may be out of place in Beverly Hills, but their love and loyalty to one another is universal.
