Antiques Road Trip is back with Season 20, Episode 11, where viewers are treated to another exciting episode of bargain hunting and treasure hunting. The show follows two experts in their field of antiques, who take on the challenge of travelling across the UK in search of hidden gems, unique collectables and rare items of historical significance. Along the way, they are tasked with making money by buying and selling antiques, with the winner being the one who makes the biggest profit at the end of the trip.
In this episode, the experts are travelling through South Wales, the birthplace of the famous Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas, in search of antiques. They start their journey in Llandeilo, where they visit an antiques shop called Hereford Antiques Centre. Here, they hope to find some hidden gems that can fetch a good price at auction.
Their first stop is at a local antiques centre where they discover an unusual cloakroom set. The piece has a fascinating history, and the experts learn that it was once used at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. They are impressed by its original condition and the story behind it, but will the seller's asking price be too high for the experts to make a profit?
Next, the experts visit Antiques at James Street, a family-run business specialising in traditional Welsh antiques and items of historical significance. Here, they are intrigued by an impressive looking steamer trunk that has been passed down through generations of one Welsh family. The chest seems to be in good condition, and the experts can see that it's got a unique history behind it. But a closer look reveals some damage that might make it harder to sell at the auction house.
As the experts continue their journey through South Wales, they make an interesting stop at the Swansea Museum. Here, they get to see some rare artefacts that relate to the history of the city, including an original Swansea pottery piece that is over 100 years old. Being some of the most esteemed antique experts in the country, they value the piece and are intrigued by its history, but the question remains if it's worth the investment.
The final stop on the South Wales antiques trail is the quirky shop and greenhouse, Ty Nant, where they are blown away by a set of Victorian garden ornaments that have certainly seen better days! Despite the visible wear and tear, the experts see that even with missing parts, the item itself is rare and in high demand among antiquers. They want to make a bid and see if they can turn this piece into a profit at the auction house.
Throughout the journey, the two experts, both enthusiastic and passionate about their trade, engage in friendly banter and entertaining commentary. As usual, they offer insight into what makes antiques valuable, what drives investment in them, and what the market is currently favouring.
All in all, Antiques Road Trip Season 20, Episode 11 is another episode packed with valuable antiques, beautiful scenery and captivating tales of exploration, full of exciting surprises that are sure to keep you glued to the screen from start to finish.
