Astarotte's Toy is a fantasy anime series produced by Kadokawa Pictures Inc. which premiered in April 2011. The show is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Yui Haga. The anime series is directed by Fumitoshi Oizaki and produced by J.C. Staff. The series takes place in a world where a queen of demons named Astarotte Ygvar, whose race requires regular intake of male essence to survive, has sworn to never have intimate relations with a male demon. However, due to her diminished health, her mother and caretaker, Mercelída Ygvar, presents her with the idea of having a human male harem, from which she can draw "life essence" to help maintain her health. Reluctantly, Astarotte agrees to the proposal and sets out to create her male harem.

The show is primarily a romantic comedy and revolves around Astarotte's harem consisting of several human males and their adventures together. The male leads of the series include Naoya Tōhara, a college student who has been thrust into this magical world; Grunhilde, Astarotte's faithful servant and bodyguard; and Judit Snorrevík, the Queen's steward.

The series is mostly centered around Astarotte's growing relationship with Naoya, whom she initially dislikes for being a human, but eventually begins to care for. The series also explores Astarotte's relationships with her other male harem members, each of whom brings their unique personality and background to the table.

The character designs are solid, and the animation quality is very high, making the anime incredibly pleasing to the eye. The scenery and backgrounds are also stunning, adding to the overall visual appeal of the series.

The voice acting for the series is of an exceptionally high standard, with Hitomi Nabatame portraying the main protagonist, Astarotte Ygvar, delivering a great performance. Nabatame brings a depth of emotion to the character, capturing both her playful side and her more serious moments. Rie Kugimiya voices the character of Asuha Tōhara, Naoya's younger half-sister, and Tamura Yukari plays Judit Snorrevík, Astarotte's loyal steward. The voice acting performances add greatly to the overall appeal of the show.

The series contains a great mix of humor, action, and romance, with each episode providing something new and interesting for the viewer to enjoy. The show has a lively and upbeat soundtrack, which complements the tone of the series perfectly.

Overall, Astarotte's Toy is an enjoyable and captivating anime series. The storyline is unique and intriguing, while the characters are well-developed and enjoyable to watch.
