Ep 6. Spider in the Web

Spider in the Web is the sixth episode of the second season of the science fiction television series Babylon 5. The episode originally aired on 16 February 1995. The episode was directed by Kevin G. Cremin and written by Lawrence G. DiTillio.

The episode revolves around the arrival on Babylon 5 of a former Earthforce general, Richard Franklin, who now works for a corporation known as Interplanetary Expeditions. Franklin has evidence that a member of Earthforce is selling military secrets to the Centauri, an alien race with whom Earth has recently made a treaty. Franklin is also investigating the disappearance of a key IE agent, named Zander, who was last seen on Babylon 5.

Meanwhile, Captain Sheridan is visited by an old friend, General Hague, who is leading a secret opposition movement within Earthforce. Hague wants Sheridan to join his movement, but Sheridan is reluctant to get involved in politics. However, Sheridan agrees to hear Hague out and listens to his concerns about the corruption in Earthforce.

As the episode progresses, Franklin's investigation leads him to suspect that Garibaldi, the head of Babylon 5's security force, may be the one selling military secrets to the Centauri. Garibaldi vehemently denies the accusation and sets out to clear his name, while also searching for Zander.

The tension between Franklin and Garibaldi comes to a head when Franklin confronts Garibaldi in his quarters, accusing him of being the traitor. The two men fight, with Garibaldi emerging victorious. Franklin later apologizes to Garibaldi, admitting that he had been mistaken.

Meanwhile, Sheridan meets with Hague again and eventually agrees to help him. Hague reveals that the corruption in Earthforce goes all the way to the top, with the President himself being implicated. He tells Sheridan that they need to act quickly to prevent the corrupt forces within Earthforce from causing a war with the Centauri.

The episode ends with Garibaldi and his team discovering Zander, who has been working undercover and is still alive. Garibaldi is exonerated and Franklin leaves Babylon 5, having accomplished his mission.
