Big Snake centers around one man's search to find a live giant snake. The seed of the show began more than 80 years ago when the Bronx Zoo offered a prize of 50,000 dollars for anyone who could provide them with a healthy 30-foot snake. The prize went unclaimed and the challenge was nearly forgotten for almost a century until Robert Twigger decided to try his hand at snake charming. Robert Twigger is a bodyguard, poet, rapper, hearse driver, and William Hill Sports Book of the Year winner.

The goal of Robert Twigger is not only to win the prize, but to overcome his own fear of snakes in the process. The program follows Twigger on his travels far and wide to the deep forests and swamplands of countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. The show features many different exotic snakes and information about their habitats and diets.
